Aloha Friends:

It's hard to believe that nine months have gone by since the November 08 election. We have been very busy, worked on the FY 10 County Budget and now are busy with many issues. My Land Use Committee is proud to have gotten the West Maui Hospital out of committee. We need another medical facility on the West side and we are happy it can now proceed. Many more tough issues remain and our most challenging job now is to keep our economy from deteriorating further and helping to get our residents back to work so our revenues base does not erode even more. Unless we can stop the bleeding, our FY 11 budget will be much worse and will require more cuts and tax increases. Every day we must concentrate on learning all the facts of an issue and make hard decisions.

Because we do not have an election campaign this year, TEAM BAISA has decided to hold a fun party to celebrate my 69th birthday. We will have a fun time with lots of party food, prizes, and a great Maui Idol Karaoke competition for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. We'll have our own panel of judges and enjoy listening to the competitors and the judge's comments. Come support your favorite contestant and encourage anyone you know who is a talented singer to call us and enter. There will be a limited amount of contestants to compete so register early. There'll be birthday cake and Maui's own Roselani ice cream for everyone. Forget your worries for a few hours and come have fun with us.
