Can’t believe its campaign time again and I will complete three two-year terms on the Council this year. Under our current Charter, I am eligible to run for two more two-year terms and I will be filing my nomination papers soon. I continue to be devoted to the issues I hold dear which include jobs, improving the economy, social services-especially for the elderly, housing for all, and improving our infrastructure. My primary goal remains helping all of our people have the means to enjoy a good quality of life here in Maui County. I humbly ask for your continued support.
I have served as Planning Committee Chair, Land Use Chair, and currently serve as General Plan Committee Chair. I am especially pleased to have been able to work with my colleagues to develop sound budgets for the County of Maui, pass legislation to move projects forward that benefit our community, and provide my input on bills I chose to support or not to support because I did not feel they were right for Maui County. I try to be a cooperative, collaborative, and effective member of the Council, always putting the collective welfare of our community first. I keep an open office, meet with almost everyone who asks for a meeting, and attend as many community meetings and events as I can to learn both sides on all issues. I attend almost all committee meetings and
council meetings because I see that as my job.
I am holding my campaign kickoff event on Monday, March 19 at 5:30-8:00 p.m. at the Maui Tropical Plantation and hope you will be able to join us. Your children are welcome. Please come and let your friends know, too. We are planning a country style chicken dinner, cowboy music, door prizes and a few short speeches. The purpose of this “friendraiser” is to connect with my constituents and ask for your continued support. Tickets will be available at the door. If you would like make a donation or purchase tickets in advance, you may send in your check to TEAM BAISA, PO Box 880339, Pukalani, HI 96788 or bring it with you to the party. We’d love to see you at our “friendraiser.”
We hope to see you at our party. Wear your jeans and cowboy hat if you have them. Come enjoy our cowboy band and ono food, relax, talk story, and maybe win a prize. Ya’ll come now! For more information, feel free to call Amanda Martin @ 280-1990 or Darlene Ane @ 385-5126.
With fond aloha,
Gladys & Team Baisa
